Vitalus Health has been built to its current capacity over the course of 53 years. What began as a small DME company in Port Arthur servicing patients at the grassroots selling wheelchairs, walkers, and commodes now provides innovative healthcare solutions for various specialties. The company was initially founded by a man called Old Man Bolyard. After 30 years, a family purchased the company and changed the name to Medical Social Services of Southeast Texas.
In 2012, the company was purchased by its current owner, K. Cody Patel. At this point, the company focused on improving services at the intersection of digital and connected healthcare. Shortly after, services were developed to address issues such as COPD, acute sleep apnea, and other sleep disorders.
A sleep center was purchased in 2014 to fulfill a niche service for transportation workers and occupational therapists. In 2015 Vitalus Neuro was created to provide a variety of clinical neuro-diagnostic services including EEGs and innovative sleep and neurodiagnostic tests.
In 2017, Vitalus Health decided to expand the services available within the home by purchasing a home health organization. Vitalus Home, doing business as Blessing Hands, is now a progressive servicer of condition management.
